Assistant Director IT Infrastructure

SUMMARY Under the general direction of the Director of IT Operations, manages all aspects of the credit union’s information technology infrastructure, architecture, and physical security systems. The core responsibilities encompass the management and monitoring of technologies that include but are not limited to; infrastructure systems, virtualization, storage, network, security, telephony, and collaboration architectures. Responsible for building and managing vendor relationships to ensure data communication links are robust and stable. Manages and mentors a dedicated team of System Engineers to ensure stable operation of the organization's IT infrastructure.


  • Participates in the development of the IT strategies and vision, and articulates them to team members and other associates.

  • Ensures that infrastructure architectures are scalable and can support the business needs by maintaining an understanding of business strategies and infrastructure capabilities.

  • Identifies information system enhancements that will improve business and support future business need, and will meet departmental and regulatory standards.

  • Optimizes use of the entire system and network infrastructure by performing needs analysis, procurement, support, installation, training and problem resolution.

  • Ensures proper implementation, configuration, monitoring and maintenance of security firewalls, applications and device servers and Internet, connections and encryption.

  • Maintains all connectivity to all third party business partners.

  • Manages annual DR testing and ensures all documentation is current and up-to-date.

  • Ensures designs, configures, monitors and optimizes voice/data networks, Internet and Intranet, LAN/WAN’s and all physical and virtual servers for optimal performance, maximum availability, minimal maintenance, and overall best value for the credit union

  • Develops, maintains and updates a library of technical documentation.

  • Develops and maintains the high-level design plan for the overall logical and technical IT architecture.

  • Champions the change management process in order to improve system availability and proper communication within IT and other areas of the organization.

  • Works with Information Security Specialist ensuring internal and external vul

  • Assists with daily vendor contacts, requests for proposals, vendor selection, security evaluations as well as conducts specific contract monitoring.

  • Conducts annual and semi-annual due-diligence of all IT vendors to insure compliance and standards.

  • Assists departmental management with development of systems standards, short and long term goals, project management, and strategic directions.

  • Provides continuing efforts and responsibility for quality assurance in the areas of systems security, integrity, hardware vulnerability and availability of computer devices owned by or connecting to the OneAZ credit union network.

  • Maintains enterprise IT security policy, standards, and procedures. Champions and promotes information security and privacy standards, policies and procedures; ensuring that these policies & procedures are understood, implemented and complied with across all business units.

  • Participates in the IT budget and PMO process.

  • Coordiates and completes other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree in technology or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.

Minimum ten years management experience with a minimum of five years technical experience.

Must have documentable knowledge of local and wide area networks; computer software and hardware; knowledge of data communications, network planning and analysis; and vendor evaluations.

The following certifications and/or experience are desirable:

  • Cisco Networking Technologies

  • Microsoft Technologies

  • Data Center Planning

  • Storage management

  • Collaboration technologies (email, chat, video conferencing)

  • Virtualization technologies

  • ITIL Certification

    Other personal computer hardware and/or software, servers, local and wide area networks, and/or communications highly desirable.
