If so, we have the place for you! We are a diverse group, in the AAI Huntsville office, that performs work in all these areas and more. We integrate AAI's ground control stations for unmanned air vehicles (UAVs) and other AAI supplied equipment with the integration lab participants. We assist the Joint Technology Center, Systems Integration Laboratory (JTCSIL) in performing interoperability demonstrations with a variety of platforms. We support the PM UAS in a variety of current and future UAS efforts. We troubleshoot collection, exploitation and redistribution of state of the art payload product, including MPEG, HD and KLV video, SAR and GMTI. The UAVs are now being equipped with weapons requiring evaluation of airworthiness, range safety and information assurance. We team with other contractors in support of development and delivery of software focused products. We perform requirements management and a wide range of additional support for UAV systems. As an expert practitioner of systems engineering for the Unmanned Aircraft Systems business unit, you will supervise and/or perform product engineering and/or provide systems engineering services at the subsystem and system level of design on proposals and projects.

Systems engineering activities include:

* Supervision and/or development of project plans, including development of work packages for product engineers.
* Reviewing technical status and risk assessments of project on a monthly basis
* Generating schedules, personnel requirements, and maintain the engineering budget for a portion of a project. These tasks may include cost account management and supervision of engineers in the development process.
* Leading and performing requirements analysis and systems design, including the use of UML and DoDAF framework
* Planning and participation in hardware/software integration and test and preparation of formal reports, including the preparation, coordination and scheduling of events with engineering, manufacturing, subcontractors and lab personnel for system integration and testing.
* Supervision of planning and conduct of formal project reviews
* Supervision of selection of materials, components and subcontractors and act as vendor contact
* May perform as a company-wide expert in a specific engineering discipline and is expected to solve complex technical problems in that discipline over many projects
* May supervise and/or conduct internal research and development projects and prototypes
* Mentoring and training of less skilled personnel
* Direct on-site support to the JTCSIL and PM UAS when required
* Resolution of conflicting design requirements

Required Experience

Typically requires 9 or more years of engineering experience or equivalent. Bachelor's in engineering, physics, or related discipline. Exposure to unmanned systems is a plus. Experience with systems engineering principles and tools for defining and controlling complex developments. Experience in a variety of business areas such commercial and defense aviation programs is a plus.
