Engineering has an outstanding opportunity for a Systems Engineer (Mechatronics) in Maplewood, MN.
The Process Instrumentation & Control Systems Engineering Group (PI&CS) is seeking a highly motivated electromechanical engineer to contribute to the advancement of high performance electromechanical systems. In this position you will become involved with the design, assembly, and implementation of control systems used in high precision lathe turning and laser mastering for R&D and manufacturing of numerous products. Your skills will be utilized to design, build, and install electromechanical systems in support of this important technology.
You will work in a high energy multi-disciplinary team of engineers and scientists following a design from concept to implementation and from laboratory to manufacturing.
Relocation authorized within country per 3M relocation policies.
Responsibilities of this position may include direct and/or indirect physical or logical access to information, systems, technologies subjected to the regulations/compliance with U.S. Export Control Laws.
Qualifications
Basic/Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's of Science degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
Preferred Qualifications:
*
Masters degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
*
Experience with programming and systems software (PMAC, Aerotech)
*
Experience with C++/Visual Basic
*
Knowledge of drive and motor principals including linear motors
*
Solid foundation in both Mechanical and Electrical design principles (Mechatronics)
*
Solid foundation in linear control systems theory and motion control design (PID Control)
*
Experience with system simulation and analysis tools (Matlab/Simulink/Ansys)
*
Signal processing understanding
*
Ability to travel approximately 30% of the time
