Education and/or Experience

  • An Associates Degree in a Technical Field and a minimum of 5 years of experience in the manufacturing field preferred.
  • Associates Degree in drafting, industrial technology, or related field preferred. 
  • Proficiency in the use of AutoCAD and/or Solid works, with demonstrated experience in 3D and solids modeling is beneficial. 
  • Experience in the areas of machine layout and design, tooling design, robotics systems design and integration, product packaging is beneficial. 
  • Knowledge of machining, fabrication, control systems, and injection molding operations would beneficial

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review engineering drawings and plans provided by outside machine builders for the purpose of evaluating their design, suggesting recommended improvements, and identifying how the machinery will be integrated into existing automated operations.
  • Participate in engineering evaluations aimed at reducing manufacturing costs by improving efficiency and/or reducing waste, improving employee/machine interfaces (ergonomics), evaluation of new materials, evaluation and possible redesign of new products or product components, and assessment of applying new technologies to the production of medical devices.
  • Coordinate project activities with the production department personnel, electronics technicians, Tool Room personnel and other related disciplines within Cardinal Health.  Coordinate project activities and monitor progress of outside machine builders and suppliers.
  • Prepare and update project schedules to meet required completion dates using Microsoft Project.
  • Assist in the prototyping and testing of proposed production processes and product modifications.
  • Assist in the installation, debugging, and start up of new machinery and processes.
  • Prepare written project reports such as progress reports, testing and evaluation reports, project proposals and validation reports.
  • Responsible for observing department’s safety regulations and to use personal protective equipment as required.
  • Adhere to plant/Corporate policies/procedures, department safety and environmental regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and ISO 13485 Standards.
  • Responsible for practicing departments good manufacturing and housekeeping procedures.
  • Report any unusual circumstances to immediate supervisor and perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
