More specifically, we are looking for talented networking professionals to design, develop, deploy, sustain and monitor state-of-the-art network solutions (WAN, CAN, LAN, DCN, and wireless communications solutions) that are currently and will soon be deployed across ASU worldwide.
The Cloud and Software Defined Networking Engineer will design and implement the enhancements and future capabilities for the architecture of the university of the future. In this role you will define, plan, and support the execution of the evolution of our current network capabilities to enhanced and expanded network infrastructures. You will serve operational needs within the enterprise and may occasionally be required to serve in an on-call capacity. You will use various global cloud capabilities and software based networking capabilities in order to provide the best possible managed attribution network infrastructure to support our vision of a boundaryless institution. Specifically, you will have to work with the current operational elements, engineering and infrastructure staff and the design team to define the underlying infrastructure use of cloud technologies and SDN capabilities for the enhanced and newly designed networks. This position will report to the Executive Director of CANES and participate in an instrumental role in our cloud and advanced network engineering initiatives.
Depends on experience
Provide expertise and guidance consistent with 5 - 6+ years or experience in enterprise Cloud design and implementation.
Use multiple Cloud vendors (AWS, Azure, Google) for building and maintaining reliable infrastructure and security services
Perform activities that require knowledge of technologies surrounding Enterprise Switches and Routers connecting to Cloud applications and cloud networking technologies in the areas of SDN, NFV, SD-WAN
Use both Windows and Linux administration and systems management
Design virtualized compute environments utilizing VMware, OpenStack, etc.
Use development experience with cloud platforms, orchestration, and VNF managers
Use effective communication and relationship skills, especially the ability to articulate advanced technical topics to both technical and non-technical staff
Experience in using presentation skills
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, or related field AND five years’ of related experience, which includes three years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
5 - 6+ years or experience in enterprise Cloud design and implementation
Minimum of 9 years of relevant experience
Evidence of a Master’s Degree in a technical discipline
Experience in devising creative ways to use Cloud services and SDN services to provide the best infrastructure options
Experience in using multi-vendor infrastructure platforms (i.e., Cisco, Juniper, Arista)
Knowledge of multi-vendor Layer 3 routing protocols (i.e., BGP, OSFP, EIGRP, IGRP, HSRP, VRRP)
Knowledge of Virtual Private Networking (i.e., MPLS, GRE, L2VPN, EVPN, Pseudowire, IPsec, MACSEC)
Knowledge of data center architectures and converged networks
Knowledge of current networking trends, including commercial implementations of Software Defined Networks (SDN) for both Data Center Network and WAN applications
Knowledge of load balancing and Application Delivery Controller technologies and implementations
Knowledge of WAN architectures (i.e., Carrier Ethernet, Optical Fabrics (OTN), SONET)
Knowledge of network monitoring tools (i.e., NetFlow Tracker, Wireshark, Cisco LMS, Cisco Call Manager, Wireshark, Elastic, and Splunk)
Experience in Network Modeling (OPNet, NetSim)
Knowledge of Network Boundary (Next Generation Firewalls (Palo Alto, Cisco FIREPOWER), IPSEC/SSL VPN Concentrators)
Evidence of technical certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, SEC+)
Experience in cybersecurity engineering, network intelligence and operations, and machine learning are highly desired
Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse
Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work
Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds
Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts
Clearly communicate to perform essential functions
