Responsibilities will include planning and coordinating testing activities. This role will ensure that quality issues and defects are appropriately identified, documented, tracked and resolved.

Quality Assurance Engineer

The candidate should have proven track record in a fast-paced IT department utilizing an offshore model. We are looking for a unique combination of development skills and passion for testing. Responsibilities will include planning and coordinating testing activities. This role will ensure that quality issues and defects are appropriately identified, documented, tracked and resolved.

Other roles and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Strong understanding of QA processes and concepts
  • Develop, execute and maintain test plans, test scenarios, test cases and test scripts
  • Support testing efforts for software releases, including smoke, functional, regression testing
  • Track multiple test executions simultaneously and synthesize results
  • Proactively identify new processes/approaches and continuously strive to find ways to improve the overall testing strategy
  • Document, evaluate and communicate test results and defects, track and manage defects in test management tool, and work with Development team and business to troubleshoot issues
  • Contribute to our long-term vision and strategy for improved quality via automation
  • Maintain and Execute automated scripts for regression, integration and functional testing
  • Perform application and project risk analysis and recommend quality improvements
  • Operate independently, flexibly, proactively and have a flair for innovation
  • Work in an Agile team throughout the lifecycle
  • Review requirement specification and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback
  • Participate in troubleshooting and triaging of issues with different teams to drive towards root cause identification and resolution
  • Work with Business teams to plan and execute UAT in test management tool
  • Support production deployment of applications and perform "validation testing" during the off-hour’s maintenance window

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of QA experience
  • Experience with test management tools such as qTest and JIRA
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum and Waterfall methodologies
  • Experience with SDLC
  • Experience executing and coordinating integration, system, regression and user-acceptance testing
  • Demonstrated ability to work on concurrent projects, activities and tasks under time constraints
  • Demonstrated ability to work in team-based environments.
  • Hands-on experience with both white box (Java/React JS) and black box testing
  • Hands-on experience with automated testing tools
  • Experience using Confluence Team Collaboration software
  • Experience in test automation (Selenium) and standard Office tools
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Good communications skills - verbal, written and presentation
  • Experience in Property and Casualty Insurance processes and applications will be an added advantage
  • Bachelor’s degree, or the equivalent, in computer science, engineering or a related field

  • Experience working with Git, Splunk
  • Experience in Unit testing frameworks like Junit/TestNG
  • AWS knowledge
  • Appreciation for CI/CD and DevOps
