POSITION SUMMARY

This position will lead and support projects linked to digital continuity, data acquisition, data analysis, and process automation. This role encompasses the overall collection and analysis of production information, while using that data to help to improve the efficiency, productivity, and capability of the business. This position will work with direction provided by the engineering team and plant management. In this role, the Data Engineer will develop best practices for data management and reporting that will drive timely and accurate engineering decisions. This position will also provide hands-on manufacturing support, write documentation, and manage projects.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

  1. *Focal point for engineering team for product lifecycle management software such as Plateau Industriel and 3D Experience
  2. *Provide technical support for E-Prod deployment (Manufacturing Execution System)
  3. *Support SPC administration, data collection, and analysis
  4. *Provide technical support for the transition of our statistical process control software (SPC) to the upgraded system (Sigma)
  5. Ensure seamless data collection and storage
  6. Support complex data mapping
  7. *Develop efficient and useful reporting tools
  8. *Maintain accuracy of data with high level of detail, implementing corrective actions as required
  9. Maintain system efficiency, propose improvements, and monitor technology developments
  10. Initiate new data collection streams with guidance from the engineering team to determine parameters or processes to monitor
  11. Generate manufacturing data reports to support immediate feedback to the operators and generation of Quality documentation
  12. Monitor production to detect and prevent process drifts
  13. Analyze manufacturing data to assess capability and determine opportunities for process improvements
  14. Provide data or documentation and make technical presentations to management
  15. *Oversee JIRA project management software for the engineering team
  16. Apply statistical methodology to complex data
  17. Perform mathematical modeling in support of production projects
  18. Support the effort to make pertinent data visible throughout the manufacturing facility
  19. Perform engineering database administration, maintenance, and updates
  20. *Interact with engineering team and international team of engineers to ensure alignment of data collection, analysis, and reporting amongst three facilities
  21. *Propose, lead, and participate in data driven projects utilizing DMAIC and DMADV principles
  22. Manage urgent work deadlines and high profile deliverables in an efficient manner
  23. Develop training material and facilitate training sessions as warranted
  24. *Identify opportunities for process improvement while coordinating and implementing automated solutions
  25. Other duties as assigned

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics, or other relevant technical degree including a strong statistical background - a minimum of two years of relevant experience is preferred
  2. Strong IT skills: database management systems knowledge; ability to specify software development requirements
  3. Strong proficiency in SQL and Object-Oriented Programming (e.g., NET, Python, Java, C++)
  4. Understanding of GD&T preferred
  5. Requires a strict attention to detail
  6. Understanding of LEAN manufacturing concepts and/or 6 Sigma techniques preferred
  7. Ability to work well with individuals at all levels of the organization required
  8. Good project management skills
  9. Excellent verbal and written skills
  10. Ability to read and interpret blueprints is preferred
  11. Must be able to work effectively individually and as part of a team
  12. Ability to lift up to 15 pounds, approximately 10% of a standard work day
  13. Travel - available for international travel (no more than 10% of the time)
  14. Ability to quickly develop an understanding of the current master data environment (including systems, policies, processes, and procedures)
  15. Self-starter with the ability to deal with ambiguity and work independently
  16. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  17. Ability to work in high-volume manufacturing setting
  18. Ability to handle conflicting priorities

WORKING CONDITIONS

  1. Lighting and temperature are adequate
  2. Employee regularly required to sit with occasional walking
  3. Employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms
  4. Protective eyewear and footwear must be worn in manufacturing areas, approximately 30% of a standard work day
