Position Summary

UNM’s Capital & Space Strategies (CSS) provides strategic coordination, guidance and planning resources for institutional space, facility physical assets and capital resources.

CSS seeks a flexible, driven, and results-oriented professional with demonstrated experience in space data management. This position is responsible for overseeing our FAMIS Space data system which includes developing specifications for data capture and input, while monitoring input to ensure consistency, quality and integrity of data, oversee the collection and reporting of complex space data, performing data analysis and interpretation including statistical values and provides advice and consultation regarding implications, and providing technical guidance in supporting users in the daily use of the FAMIS data system. This position will be critical in the development and implementation of improved data management strategies and systems for CSS. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate space and facility data analysis, creative problem solving skills, will take initiative to improve data collection processes, and have the ability to troubleshoot data-related problems and authorize maintenance or modifications.

Duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Oversight of FAMIS space data system

    • Ensuring consistency and integrity of space data; oversight of space data collection and reporting

    • Develops alternatives to resolve data issues

    • Experienced in analyzing and interpreting space and facility data

    • Provides technical assistance to FAMIS users throughout campus

    • Maintains written User training materials, as well as providing in-person training opportunities for campus users

    • Collaborates with FM and PDC on the capture of space data and reporting requirements (renovation floor plans, room numbering, square footage changes, space classification changes, etc.)

    • Maintains communication with campus FAMIS users on system updates, changes, etc. vis established listserv’s

    • Oversees space data updates to the FAMIS system, via regular updates or larger campus-wide update process

    • Works with IT Reporting on space data report enhancements and changes

    • Maintains FAMIS user rights and appropriate roles

  • Oversight of Facility Condition Assessment Data

    • Review and maintenance of facility condition data received from FM and PDC (building system update, renewal of space, etc.)

    • Reporting of facility condition data for use in capital planning, maintenance master planning and facility feasibility studies

    • Develop alternatives for collection and maintenance of facility condition data

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Advanced analytical and interpretative skills specific to space and facility data.
  • 7 years or more of demonstrated direct experience with database administration.
  • Experience with user support training in providing technical guidance in design and functionality of a database system.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical issues to a non-technical audience, both in writing and in person.
  • Ability to research independently and apply problem solving skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Knowledge of structured programming and testing techniques.
  • Knowledge of Accruent FAMIS space module.
