Position Summary

TheHumanities Division at UNM - Valencia Campus seeks to hire a TemporaryPart-Time Faculty member to teach a variety of lower division Film Technologycourses for the fall 2020, spring2021 and summer 2021 semesters.

Anticipatedopenings potentially include the following subjects:
VideoProduction I & II, Cinematography, Film & Digital Media, Film Studies,Directing, Post-Production Editing, Film Crew Internship and Capstone.

Located about 30miles south of Albuquerque in rural Valencia County, the University of NewMexico-Valencia Campus is a two-year branch campus associated with theUniversity of New Mexico. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, ValenciaCampus offers vocational and technical courses as well as academic transfercourses to the citizens of Valencia and northern Socorro counties. The facultyand staff serve a student body of approximately 2,300 each semester.

The Film Technology Certificate is a two-year, 30 credit-hour programthat offers specialized training in film industry pre-production, production,and post-production for students to gain experience and knowledge of the filmindustry. The certificate is designed to develop hands-on skills by using and experimentingwith equipment covering all aspects of filmmaking, better preparing studentsfor employment on film and television sets as production assistants and otherfilm crew positions. This certificate is fully transferrable to the Bachelor ofArt/Fine Art in Film & Digital Media at UNM Main Campus.
Positions arecontingent upon need each semester as determined by student enrollment levels,current course offering matrix, and demand driven by graduationrequirements. Positions may be filled oreliminated each semester up to the deadline for students to drop or addcourses. Candidates who are selected forthese positions will report to Justin Bendell, Chair of Humanities.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications to teach or develop courses in the field orsubfield for which you are applying are determined by Higher LearningCommission’s accreditation requirements for faculty, and must be met by one ofthese ways:

  • Master’s Degree in Film or related field; or
    Ability to demonstrate tested experience that the Humanities Division has determined to be equivalent to a Master’s degree in the discipline or subfield
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, specifically but not limited to Premiere Pro
  • Expert knowledge of Final Cut Pro
    On set industry experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year of successful teaching experience in the field of Film technology, both online and face-to-face courses, at the community college level.
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
