The Application Systems Engineer 4 position will be in integral part of the overall CORE team (CORE stands for Common Opportunities, Results and Experiences) within the Consumer Lending Technology group of TOG, with the overarching objective to design and develop a new origination and processing system for Wells Fargo Home Lending. This dynamic and unified sales and fulfillment system will replace numerous legacy systems, providing quality and consistency to the lending process and customer experience. In support of this significant undertaking, this position will be a key contributor in day to day hands on development efforts and perform production support activities. This position will be a lead in providing application design guidance and consultation, utilizing a thorough understanding of applicable technology, tools and existing designs. The ASE 4 role will work with technical leads, technical analysts, business analysts, and DBAs to evaluate business needs and help provide end-to-end technical solutions. Responsibilities include: analyzing highly complex business requirements; designing and/or redesigning complex computer platforms and applications; providing coding direction to less experienced staff; developing highly complex original code; acting as an expert technical resource for modeling, simulation and analysis efforts; verifying program logic by overseeing the preparation of test data, testing and debugging of programs; overseeing overall systems testing and the migration of platforms and applications to production; and leading initiatives.
The primary duties of this role will focus on leveraging industry (Java and J2EE) best practices to design, code, test, implement and support a multi-tier J2EE real estate lending solution in support of Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. In addition to the daily hands on development activities, this individual will play a key role in providing production support. This support will entail initial issue triage and troubleshooting, root cause determination, and the development of short and long term technical and/or process solutions.
This position will offer exposure to the entire end to end process of originating and fulfilling a mortgage, but the primary areas of focus for this role will be in the development and maintenance of the key front end pricing and fees functional areas, which are highly critical capabilities within the lending process.

Other responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Analyzing highly complex business requirements designs and writes technical specifications to design or redesign complex computer platforms and applications.
- Verifying program logic by overseeing the preparation of test data, testing and debugging of programs.
- Participating in overall systems testing and the migration of platforms and applications to production.
- Developing new documentation, departmental technical procedures and user guides.
- Assuring quality, security and compliance requirements are met for supported area, as well as, overseeing creation of or updates to and testing of the business continuation plan.

Other Desired Qualifications
- Hands on experience in design, development and successful deployment of a large scale Java/J2EE project from end-to-end
- Extensive knowledge and application of Java best practices and J2EE design patterns
- Experience with application servers such as (i.e. Weblogic, WebSphere, JBoss)
- Experience with various database query patterns and database table design, preferably in Oracle
- Extensive experience in technologies such as JSPs, JSF, Struts/Spring, Axis, Web Services, JMS, XML.
- Experience using Quartz job/schedulers
- Mockito testing
- Junit and/or TestNG experience
